In the seven months, about 54% of global alumina production came from China – 44.45 million tons, an increase of 10.6% over the same period last year. According to IAI, the alumina output of Chinese enterprises reached a record 6.73 million tons in July, an increase of 12.9% over the same month last year.
Alumina production also increased in South America, Africa and Asia (except China). In addition, the IAI unified the CIS countries, Eastern and Western European countries into a group. In the past seven months, the group has produced 6.05 million tons of alumina, an increase of 2.1% over the same period last year.
Alumina production in Australia and Oceania has not actually increased, although in terms of total market share, the region ranks second in the world, second only to China – an increase of almost 15% in seven months.
